Community Guidelines

PitchStar is a music education community for learners of all ages. These guidelines help us maintain a safe and positive environment for everyone.

Be Respectful

Treat other users the way you would want to be treated. PitchStar is a place to learn and grow together. We do not tolerate:

  • Bullying, harassment, or intimidation
  • Hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory language
  • Sexually explicit or suggestive content
  • Content that promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activity
  • Spam or disruptive behavior

Choose an Appropriate Display Name

Your display name is visible to other users. Display names must not contain:

  • Profanity, slurs, or vulgar language (including creative misspellings or character substitutions)
  • References to drugs, alcohol, weapons, or adult content
  • Personal information such as your real full name, phone number, school, or address
  • Names that impersonate other people, brands, or public figures

All display names are checked by an automated filter. If your name is flagged or reported, it may be reset by our team. You will be asked to choose a new name.

Reporting

If you encounter a user whose display name or behavior violates these guidelines, you can report them from their profile. Reporting also blocks the user, removing all social connections between you.

Reports are reviewed by our team. We do not share the outcome of reports with the reporter or the reported user.

What Happens When Guidelines Are Violated

We take violations seriously and enforce a graduated response. Repeated violations result in escalating consequences:

  1. First violation: Your display name is reset and you receive a warning.
  2. Second violation: Your social features are restricted for 7 days. You can continue using the educational features of the App during this time.
  3. Third violation: Your social features are restricted for 30 days.
  4. Fourth violation: Your account is suspended for 7 days. You will be shown the date your access will be restored.
  5. Fifth violation: Your account is suspended for 30 days.
  6. Further violations: Your account may be permanently terminated at our discretion.

We reserve the right to skip levels in this escalation or to permanently terminate an account at any time for severe violations, including but not limited to harassment, predatory behavior, or illegal activity.

Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time. Continued use of PitchStar’s social features after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
